About Rowing
Rowing is the oldest intercollegiate sport dating back to the end of the 18th century in England. The first official race, today known as "The Boat Race", was between Oxford and Cambridge in 1829 and still happens every year to this day. Rowing first appeared in the Paris Olympics in 1900 and remains a important event to this day.
In recent years, rowing has gained much popularity in high school and collegiate communities. It is the ultimate team sport where all members much work together in perfect unison while exerting mind-numbing force over and over to achieve victory. Lifelong friendships are forged here and is one of the main reasons it has gained so much popularity.
Rowing isn't just a sport about raw power and strength either. Many people see rowing and think they have to be 6'4'' 200 lbs. Not so. This sport is as much about power as it is about technique. The only qualities you need to succeed are determination, commitment, and a desire to improve. If you have these things you will go far.
