Bryce Chung - Head Coach
- Bryce began his nautical career at a young age in his home state of Hawaii, where he spent much of his time kayaking and paddling. When Bryce moved to Indiana in 2005 to attend the University of Notre Dame, his passion for water sports led him to Notre Dame's esteemed rowing program. Bryce spent his five years at Notre Dame not only pursuing his aspirations in the field of neuroscience, but tirelessly seeking to develop the skills he possessed in his newly found passion, rowing. He went on to become one of Notre Dame's elite lightweight rowers and one of their most valuable coxswains, as well as serving as the program's Vice-President.
Since 2010, Bryce has been a graduate student at Georgia State pursuing his Ph.D. in neuroscience. He became GSU Rowing Club's Head Coach in 2014. Although he lives in concrete jungle of Atlanta, Bryce has only furthered his devotion to the sport of rowing since enrolling at Georgia State. He has served as the First Vice-President of the Atlanta Rowing Club and in January 2016 was elected as the club's President. When he is not coaching the Georgia State rowers, he coaches many Masters rowing teams for the Atlanta Rowing Club while also rowing competitively with some of the top rowers in the southeast.
Since Bryce took over the helm of GSU's Rowing Club, our novice rowing program has more than doubled in size and our varsity rowers have continued to build upon the success that they have experienced since the program's inception in 1989. Although Bryce expects to obtain his Ph.D. in 2016, he plans to stay in the Atlanta area and remain GSU Rowing Club's Head Coach for many years to come.
