Head Coach - Bryce Chung
Bryce began his nautical career at a young age in his home state of Hawaii, where he spent much of his time kayaking and paddling. When Bryce moved to Indiana in 2005 to attend the University of Notre Dame, his passion for water sports led him to Notre Dame's esteemed rowing program. Bryce spent his five years at Notre Dame not only pursuing his aspirations in the field of finance, but tirelessly seeking to develop the skills he possessed in his newly found passion, rowing. He went on to become a Notre Dame coxswain who cross-trained as a lightweight rower and eventually served as the program's Vice-President.
In 2010, Bryce became a doctoral candidate at Georgia State pursuing his Ph.D. in neuroscience. He became GSU Rowing Club's Head Coach in 2014. Although he lives in concrete jungle of Atlanta, Bryce has only furthered his devotion to the sport of rowing since enrolling at Georgia State. He has served as the First Vice-President of the Atlanta Rowing Club and in January 2016 was elected as the club's President. When he is not coaching the Georgia State rowers, he coaches the Competitive Masters program for the Atlanta Rowing Club while also occasionally competing in regattas throughout the southeast and seeking to further develop his rowing abilities.
Since Bryce took over the helm of GSU's Rowing Club, our novice rowing program has more than doubled in size and our varsity rowers have continued to build upon the success that they have experienced since the program's inception in 1989. Although Bryce obtained his Ph.D. in 2017, he plans to stay in the Atlanta area and remain GSU Rowing Club's Head Coach for many years to come.
