The team finished out the season with successful results at our largest regatta this year, SIRA. Our Women's Varsity 4+ took 2nd in the B finals while our Novice Men's 4+ took 2nd in the C finals. Both squads put forward an outstanding effort in each event.
Some news about the past 2 and a half weeks of racing:
The weekend of March 29th, 2014 was the 28th annual John Hunter Regatta held at the Lake Lanier Olympic Rowing Center. With some difficult flights, the men's 4+ walked away with silver while the women's 4+ finished in a strong 4th place. Unfortunately, Lanier Sprints was cancelled on March 30th, but we got in some solid racing experience in the Men's novice 4+, Men's novice 8+ and Women's novice 4+.
This past weekend, on April 5th, was the Clemson Sprints regatta held on Lake Hartwell. Almost every boat took a medal home so it was a successful day of racing to say the least. The men's 4+ received 2nd place in the novice final while the women's 4+ placed 3rd in the varsity final. Lastly, without ever practicing together, the mixed open 8+ received 3rd place in their flight.
We are now recruiting for the Summer conditioning! If you're interested in learning how to row and having a good time by the river come join us this Summer. This summer conditioning will begin on Monday, May 12th. They will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week. Head over to our Facebook event and RSVP or sign up on our website.
The team returned from an extremely successful day of racing Saturday receiving medals in every event we entered. We also came in 2nd for collegiate team points. As we begin Spring Break, we'll begin focusing on our next big regatta, John Hunter, coming up in just 2 weeks.
Men's Novice 4+: Bronze
Women's Novice 4+: Gold
Women's Varsity 4+: Silver
Mixed Collegiate 4+: Gold
