Deron Boyles (aka “Doc”) has been involved with GaState Crew for over a decade. Prior to taking over as coach, Doc served as faculty advisor and assistant coach for coxswains under Coach Chris Abellana. Certified by USRowing, Doc has coached and coxed boats in the Head of the Charles, Head of the Hooch, Head of the Tennessee and Head of the South, to name a few. He has coxed numerous sprint races and has won over 45 medals from his rowing days at Vanderbilt to his coxing days with the Atlanta Rowing Club. He won Bronze at SIRA and is a Master’s National Silver medalist for the mixed 8+. In 2007, he was awarded the "Bruce and Patty Wilson Oarsman Award" from ARC.
